Penguins Precap 15: Winnipeg Jets

Rookie forward Beau Bennett will make his first NHL start for the Pittsburgh Penguins Friday as they take on the Winnipeg Jets for the second of a three-game season series. The Jets won the first match-up, also in Winnipeg, by a 4-2 final.

Sidney Crosby scored both Penguins goals in the loss.

Pittsburgh (9-5-0, 18 points) sits fourth in the East, trailing the New Jersey Devils by just one point for the conference lead. Winnipeg (5-6-1), meanwhile, have gone 5-5-0 in their last ten games. While technically tenth in the East due to tiebreakers, their 11 points are still tied with five other clubs for fewest in the Eastern Conference.

Season Series

Pittsburgh 2, Winnipeg 4

As Beau Bennett will get his first start in Pittsburgh, Eric Tangradi will get his first start with Winnipeg Friday, after being traded by the Pens this week in exchange for a seventh-round pick.

Tangradi manufactured just one goal in 45 games with the Penguins and clearly didn’t project to be part of the team’s future after failing to produce while on the second line early this season.

Marc-Andre Fleury will start for Pittsburgh.

Mailing it in tonight.
