48-Game NHL Season to Begin January 19
According to Elliotte Friedman at CBC’s Hockey Night in Canada, the 48-game NHL season will begin January 19.
Teams will play 48 conference games, many of which figure to be intra-divisional tilts. Training camps will reportedly open by January 12 or 15, giving clubs a week or less to hold training camps and set their rosters.
Chatter on the interwebs guesses that schedules will be announced by the middle of this week. The NHL Board of Governors will vote to ratify the CBA on Wednesday. Sounds like the NHL wants to get its business in order before players begin preparing for the season.
